This Privacy Policy explains how Oyo SEMIS, the Oyo State Education Management Information System ("Oyo SEMIS", "we", "us"), operated under the Oyo State Ministry of Education, collects, uses and protects information when you use the platform.
1. Information We Collect
Oyo SEMIS processes information necessary to manage education in Oyo State, including:
- Personal and professional records of teachers and education staff (e.g. name, contact details, qualifications, postings).
- Pupil and student records (e.g. enrolment, attendance, examination results).
- School and administrative data across the 33 Local Government Areas of Oyo State.
- Account and usage information for authorised users of the platform.
2. How We Use Information
Information is used solely for legitimate education-management purposes, including teacher recruitment and deployment, performance and attendance management, student records and examinations, planning, reporting and oversight by authorised bodies.
3. Lawful Basis & Data Protection
We process personal data in line with applicable Nigerian data-protection requirements, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA), and recognised international best practice.
4. Access & Security
Access to data is restricted through role-based access control. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and system activity is recorded through audit logging to support accountability.
5. Data Sharing
Information is shared only with authorised education bodies (such as the Ministry of Education, SUBEB and Local Government Education Authorities) and supporting partners, strictly for the purposes described above. We do not sell personal data.
6. Data Retention
Records are retained for as long as necessary to fulfil education-management and statutory obligations, after which they are securely archived or deleted.
7. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, individuals may request access to, or correction of, their personal data held in Oyo SEMIS by contacting the system administrators.
