Data Protection — Oyo SEMIS

Oyo SEMIS handles personal and sensitive information about teachers, pupils and schools. This statement summarises the measures in place to protect that information.

This is a working statement provided with the system and should be reviewed and approved by the Oyo State Ministry of Education and its legal advisers before public release.

1. Our Commitment

We are committed to processing personal data lawfully, fairly and transparently, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) and recognised international best practice.

2. Technical Safeguards

Role-based access control — users can only access the data their role requires.
Encryption — data is protected in transit and at rest.
Authentication — secure sign-in protects user accounts.
Audit logging — system activity is recorded to support accountability.
Backups — data is backed up to support recovery and continuity.

3. Organisational Safeguards

Access is granted on a need-to-know basis to authorised personnel at state, LGA and school levels, with responsibilities defined for administrators and users.

4. Data Subjects' Rights

Individuals have rights over their personal data, including access and correction, in line with applicable law. Requests can be made through the Ministry of Education.
